Truegauge privacy policy
Effective 5 October 2026. Developer: Hemal Modi. Contact: hemalmodi3@gmail.com.
Truegauge shows how your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac are doing: CPU, memory, storage, network, battery and thermal level, plus a set of tools. This page says what the app does with your data. The short version: it does not collect any.
What we collect
Nothing. Truegauge has no account, no sign-in and no analytics. It has no advertising and no tracking. I do not run a server that the app talks to, so I never receive your readings, your location, your host names or anything else.
What stays on your device
- Readings and history charts from the dashboard and charging sessions.
- Your settings, your Ping, Telnet and SSH host lists, and your SSH keys and passwords. Credentials sit in the Keychain on your device.
- Your Pro purchase status, which the app reads from StoreKit.
The last iPhone reading shown on your Apple Watch travels between your own paired devices through Apple's system. I cannot read it.
Permissions and why the app asks
The app asks only when you open a tool that needs the permission.
| Permission | Used for | Where it goes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Location | Compass heading, GPS readout, and the motion tracker, which keeps recording a route in the background only while you record one | Stays on your device |
| Local network | Ping, Telnet and SSH to devices on your own network, only when you run them | Goes only to the device you entered |
| Microphone | Decibel meter. Audio is never recorded or saved | Stays on your device |
| Camera | Scanning QR codes | Stays on your device |
| Motion and pressure sensors | Barometer, altimeter, motion tracker | Stays on your device |
| Photo library (add only) | Saving a QR code you made. The app never reads your photos | Your photo library |
You can change any of these in Settings (iOS) or System Settings (Mac).
Network use
Truegauge connects to the network in one case only.
Tools you run. Ping, Telnet and SSH connect to the hosts you type in. Those connections go straight from your device to that host. SSH traffic is encrypted by the SSH protocol. I do not see it.
Purchases
Truegauge Pro is a one-time purchase handled by the App Store. Apple processes the payment. I do not get your name, card details or Apple ID.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. A change that adds data collection would ship in an app update that says so in the release notes.
